Healthy food shopping and its preparation tends to jump on the top places of our list of excuses for not eating healthy. But is it really that difficult as it seems? Let me convince you of the opposite.
Yesterday I went food shopping to Food Cooperative and in a 10 minutes long battle, I walked out of the supermarket with healthy and very tasty ingredients from which I managed to prepare 5 well balanced meals. Don’t waste your money for one portion of junk food when you can have 5 portions of healthy and delicious meals for the same prize 🙂
This creamy porridge does not contain sugar and to make it a little bit more tasty, I add yummy blueberries and small pieces of bananas.
To boost my energy level for another four hours of studies, I mixed my favorite fruits. To be honest, I don’t even know what gives me bigger pleasure…the look or taste?
Sauté vegetable with butter, add water, cook it till boils and season it…..doesn’t it sound super easy?
Chick Chick Chicken Lunchtime 🙂
I simply fried the vegetable and roasted chicken with argentinian steak seasoning on the lightly-oiled pan. I mixed them together and finally added peanuts, feta cheese and seasoned it with salt, black pepper, and garlic sauce.
Crisp bread with light Philadelphia, baby tomatoes and rocket salad….finalize your beautiful healthy day.
Don’t wait, jump of the bed and go to the supermarket…you know the directions 🙂

Is it possible to have the lunch meal without meat for example?since it sounds really good but i´ve recently became a vegetarian 🙂
Hi Eve,
absolutely, I am also not a big fan of meat so I understand you 🙂 What I do sometimes is that I eat this roasted vegetable with rice or roasted potatoes with olive oil and rosemary 🙂 Or simply with pasta. And feta cheese is very good ingredient because when cold its salty but when you heat it, it changes its taste completely and its very good 🙂
Perhaps you could substitute the meat with Shiitake mushrooms. Their texture emulates that of meat and they are said to have medicinal properties. Enjoy.
Love your blog-might try some recipes thanks! 🙂
I am glad you enjoyed it 🙂 I am going to post some more healthy recipes later this week 🙂
sauteed tofu is a great alternative to meat or even sprinkling slivered almonds on top of some grilled vegetables. Im a huge fan of goat cheese also (lactose intolerant – only cheese I can eat is goat) and its great mixed into a hot tomato sauce making it like rosee sauce but you are still getting some protein in there.
So you mix goat cheese with tomato sauce?? I never heard of it. Must try!! 🙂 Thanks for great advice 🙂
Yah I cant have regular rosee sauce cause its often made with cream so once you pour your sauce onto your pasta sprinkle goat cheese on top and it will melt from the heat of the pasta and sauce and if you mix it on your plate it becomes creamy. Ive never tried it on the stove but it would do the same Im sure.
Thanks a lot 🙂 Gonna try to for my lunch tomorrow 🙂
I love fruit in the morning. On Sundays I cut up watermelon and other fruits a
Idk what is wrong with my app but it didn’t let me finish. It’s a quick thing and is delicious throughout the week.
That’s great. And fruit especially should be eaten only in the morning time. Apart from pineapple, grapefruit and watermelon 🙂 These speed your metabolism up so can be eaten any time 🙂
Great blog. You are a great writer and your message seems to be spot on. 🙂
Thank You one more time Mike. I am happy for such a supportive comment from great blogger like you 🙂

That berry bowl looks amazing! I love fresh berries but they can be so expensive here! I end up buying 1kg frozen bags of them and take them out whenever I want a berry fix! Frozen berries, frozen mango and some water blended together is my favourite summer drink 🙂 Loving your blog!
Hi,
you’re absolutely right. The berries are extremely expensive here 😦 I’ve never tried to mix berries with mango….thanks….now it’s definitely on the list of my summer drinks 🙂
Andrea 🙂
Do you have any warehouse stores near you?I’m in the US, but I buy blackberries and strawberries at warehouse stores so i can get more for less. The blackberries have actually been the best I’ve found around.

Great post, Andrea! Your blog is cool as well. Thanks for visiting mine.
Thanks Lori for such a nice comment 🙂
You’re welcome. 😀
The lunch recipe sounds great but I’m not sure where I can find the Argentinian seasoning. Do you know an American version/translation of porridge… is it oatmeal? or a completely different hot cereal?
Hi Alexandra,
tahnks a lot for your kind and very positive comments 🙂 I enjoyed reading your inspirational post and I wish you all the best on your new health journey 🙂 I have many supermarkets near the place where I live and they often have good offers so when I buy more berries, I pay less. I am glad you like them as well, they are the best and healthiest start of the day 🙂 Porridge, yes it is exactly the same as oatmeal….I usually fill the bowl…half with hot water and half with hot milk and then mix it with as many fruits as I can find in my fridge 🙂 I am very happy that I have new healthy lifestyle ‘blog-mate’ 🙂
Best,
Andrea

Really nice list of good things to eat! Eating healthy isn’t really that hard. I love the last little morsel that you had, but I’m curious…what is “rocket salad”? I haven’t heard of it – or maybe it’s just called something else in the US.
I enjoyed this very much!
Hi Becky,
I am glad you enjoyed reading this post 🙂 As you say…eating healthy isn’t as difficult as it looks like 🙂 Rocket salad is in US English Rugola….or Arugula :)Better??
Best,
Andrea
Love love love your morning snack 🙂 I’m all about berries 😉 Can’t live without.
I think i usually eat like this, as i’m a big fan of veggies, soups in general, salads and fruits. You’re making great choices there from my perspective! 🙂
Xoxo, Luchessa.
Hi Luchessa,
I am glad you enjoyed reading the post 🙂 Yes, these are one of my favorite ones…I am glad we share the same taste 🙂
Thanks :),
Andrea
I fear for the future of humankind, Andrea, given how we have lost sight of nutrition as the foundation of good health and the rapid loss of the ability to cook. It is a mystery how this has happened so quickly. And dreadfully sad! Keep up the good work, mate. David.
Hi David,
you’re absolutely right. It’s also a huge contribution many influential companies that benefit from our ever-growing laziness. The thing that worries me the most is the fact that cooking is so easy and fun and HEALTHY thing to do that I literally don’t understand people’s behavior.
Wish you all the best on your health journey,
Andrea

I would eat everything on here! Thank you for sharing, I completely agree with your healthy eating philosophy. Almost daily I discuss nutrition with friends and family and it is an ongoing learning experience, one I am thrilled to be a part of.
Hi,
I am very happy you enjoyed the recipes:) From what I saw in your blog posts, you could teach me many of yours 🙂 I am glad to hear that you are a healthy eater…and even though it’s not easy …..it’s definitely one of the best investments for life 🙂
Best,
Andrea
Great example for how planning can really keep you from buying stuff you don’t need! I always make a list, and find that it’s a lot easier to stick to healthy options if I don’t GIVE myself the option. 🙂
The hubs, on the other hand…he just needs to make sure he eats a small snack before he goes with me to the store, otherwise he’s bringing home whatever junk food snack he finds first!
Hi Heather,
you are so so right. That’s what I always say….if you plan your day and food shopping properly…..living healthy becomes as easy as living unhealthy:) And yes, never go shopping hungry!!
Cheers,
Andrea
Not only does your day’s food looks healthy, it looks like it taste great as well. I cannot wait to start cooking the foods I want.
Thank You for kind comment 🙂 When you prepare for it, cooking healthy becomes as easy as cooking unhealthy…(plus the taste is much better) Of course that first weeks you feel like going back to MCs and eat tasty cheeseburger….but when you actually try it only after couple of weeks of healthy eating….you will feel how disgusting it is.
Good luck,
Andrea
I do not eat MCs or most burgers but I still find that I can make my food exciting. My food is boring for the while.
I also have that feeling sometimes…but internet is full of amazing recipes..just try some new
I hope to very soon. Thanks 🙂
Yummy!
I mix strawberries and blueberries into a vegetable salad and use olive oil and sea salt as a dressing.
I never tried this combination 🙂 Thanks for new idea 🙂
Thanks for checking out my blog entry! This post (and the comments generated from it) gave me some great ideas! Thanks again 🙂
Hi Ashley,

Thank You sweetie 🙂
You’re welcome! Thank you for taking the time to post such great content! 😀
This is great and for someone like myself who has PCOS, this helps put the day into perspective. I’m wondering, I have a severe sweet tooth and it’s only heightened by moods; do you know of or have any healthy suggestions to curve the sweet tooth? Chocolate is my downfall and though I’ve pulled back a great deal, I’d love to be able to still have that without breaking the belly bank. Thoughts?
Welcome to the club my dear,
I am just like you, mainly in the winter time. What I do most of the time (doesn’t work always 🙂 but…at least something) is 70% dark chocolate, lots of fruit, sweet porridge in the morning, coffee, or simply bake some cookies or sweets by yourself as you can limit the amount of sugar you put in it. But you can eat sweets even every day if you know to limit yourself (which is bloody hard I know :). I will be try to figure it out and post something about sweet healthy treats 🙂
