It is human that we try to understand our nature and the roots of our origins. However, it is also human to forget about these, from time to time. Let’s remind ourselves of the preciousness of our bodies and the importance of connecting our physical shells with the nobility of our inner selves….by reading the words of wise men.
1) “He who has health, has hope. And he who has hope, has everything.”
~Arabian Proverb
2) “Our bodies are our gardens – our wills are our gardeners.”
~William Shakespeare
3) “In health there is freedom. Health is the first of all liberties.”
~Henri Frederic Amiel
4) “When eating a fruit, think of the person who planted the tree.”
~Vietnameese Proverb
5) “You pray for good health and a body that will be strong in old age. Good — but your rich foods block the gods’ answer and tie Jupiter’s hands.”
~Persius
6) “Gluttony is an emotional escape, a sign something is eating us.”
~Peter De Vries
7) “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”
~Hippocrates
8) “To avoid sickness, eat less; to prolong life, worry less.”
~Weng Chu Hui
9) “We drink one another’s health and spoil our own.”
~Jerome K. Jerome
10) “Water, air, and cleanliness are the chief articles in my pharmacopoeia.”
~Napoleon
11) “True health care reform starts in your kitchen, not in Washington.”
~Anonymous
12) “Every human being is the author of his own health or disease.”
~Buddha
13) “There is something in sickness that breaks down the pride of manhood.”
~Charles Dickens
14) “Before healing others, heal yourself.”
~Anonymous
15) “Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.”
~Jim Rohn

The way you open this blog post reminds me of a saying from Buddhism that I like very much: “Life is a series of remembering and forgetting.” It is our mind’s nature to remember, and also to forget. The key is, once we remember, to act on what we remember, not to beat up on ourselves too much for forgetting, and to assume we will forget again – and so too will we remember again.
Hi Mousey,
thank you for your wonderful quote, I’ve never heard of this one before 🙂 I already printed it out and pinned it on my board….:) I will add your name to it so I will always remember who told me this beautiful lines of wisdom.
Wish you all the best,
Andrea

Great post for motivation 🙂 Oh, and thanks for stopping by my blog!
What inspires me? “Mens Sana In Corpore Sano” – A healthy mind in a healthy body (is what men should pray for above all else) – Roman Poet Juvenal.
The sports company ASICS takes it’s name from the acronym in Latin based upon that – ‘Anime sana in corpore sano’ – a healthy Soul in a healthy body.
Keep up the great blogging.
Hi Bob,

Things like this inspire me. I enjoy reading about this kind of stuff. I especially enjoy inspirational quotes when they aren’t completely biblical. Thank you for sharing this.

I enjoyed this! I just wrote a few hours ago the witch story of the top. I was at ER for my wife who hurt her leg so I had time. I like how, with this, you arrange wonderful colors to each quote and each had truth and antiquity. I have immunodeficiencies, so I am big on health. My favorite, which today’s best MDs advocate is to eat right- “Let food be” your meds. Awesome.
Hi Andy,
I hope your wife is feeling better now. Thank you very much for your kind comment 🙂 I believe that by choosing healthy lifestyle….you can conquer any disease that will stand in your way.
Wish you and your wife all the best,
Andrea 🙂

When eating a fruit, think of the person who planted the tree. Yes. And I think that my body is fruit and that I am a walking tree. That perhaps the tree of the knowledge of good and evil as spoken in antiquity would be to take a hold of a word that should never be used but it is useful so its used. And there in that space is the creation of ends.
I thought that true writers and thinker have already died out…..I am glad I found they did not…:) Beautiful philosophy
Love the quotes you have picked, very inspirational!
Thanks 🙂 I am glad they inspired you 🙂

Andrea
Hey Miss, when’ll you be etching out mo’ blogs? I be sitting on my ‘ands an’ waiting now. I need to be healthy you see an’ I’ve more roon on me plate, see? All done. I don’ mean to be pushy but I am just a might bit lost. Honestly losing sleep. I tried counting fish instead of sheep, yeah. Fish are healthy. You can’t eat them of course. They are sleeping fish. You can’t eat them also becaurse they’s ‘magined. If you COULD, eat them, I wouldn’t go shopping. I’d be sleeping mo’and then how would I eat? I know. Its crazy. So please, Miss, may I have some’mo?

Andrea, this post is pretty cool. I like how each post is concise and to the point, which makes it very powerful. I especially like the ones by Hippocrates and the anonymous quote that says, “True health care reform starts in your kitchen, not in Washington.” If only people would actually start to make healthier lifestyle choices it could do wonders for them.
P.S. Thanks for liking some of my blog posts!

Hey
Andy,
I dropped my note II in the tub and threw it out. It died dramatically. I usually spell that “dramaticly” but my wife’s phone scolds me with wavy red lines to say, “misspell”. I picked up my old phone to play Angry Birds or just write onto a chip and transfer.
Well, heck. I am writing right now. From someone else’s phone.
I bet you don’t mind if I “unpost”? Red line for misspelling… thanks!

Hi. I’m Andy. I am using up
Andy’s space. But its not mine.
I’m not sure if its appropriate, but
I’ve never formally teased her in public and being unsure of public teasing’s origins as being more Python or SNL, I don’t know. There’s that red corrector snake again, taunting “SNL” as a questionable word. This goes up to Mi6, doesn’t it? Okay… I am backing away.
s.Sorry
(No I’m not)
